Common questions
Do I need a weather station?
No. Choose My Location or a Town during setup and you get your forecast, radar and readings from the nearest official weather station, labelled with its name and distance. You can also try A Sample Station first.
How do I connect my own station?
Through Home Assistant. Choose My Own Weather Station, enter your Home Assistant address and a long-lived access token, then pick your station from the ones the app finds. For a brand it does not recognise, you choose the sensor for each measurement instead. Setup and every card have a help button.
Where do the settings live on Apple Watch?
On the watch, go to the last page of the app and tap Options. The same options are in the iPhone app under Settings, then General, then Apple Watch Options. (Apple does not let apps add a section to the Settings app on the watch.)
Can I rearrange the screen?
Yes. On iPhone and iPad, touch and hold a card and drag it; on a Mac, drag it with the mouse; on Apple TV, open a card's … button and choose Move with the Remote. You can also resize or hide cards, and save arrangements as named views.
Why does the temperature change only once an hour?
Without a station of your own, readings come from an official station, usually an airport, and airports report about once an hour. Your own station reports every minute.
What does “Estimated by the forecast model” mean?
An official station does not measure everything. Airports have no UV sensor, and most outside the United States do not report rainfall. For those, the app shows the forecast model's estimate and says so on the card. If no official station is reporting near you at all, every reading is the model's estimate until one is, and the app says that too.
